Department Name Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA), Department of Information and Science Technology, Government of Uttarakhand

To ensure uniformity, consistency and compatibility across various e-governance initiatives, it is critical to develop a holistic, redundant, scalable and futuristic infrastructure architecture plan based on defined standards with shared database across multi-departmental applications. This component envisages to set-up an IT Authority in the state to formulate overall architectural framework, manage and monitor state e-governance initiative. This has been done in the state and an Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) has been constituted. 

The Government of Uttarakhand intends to harness the full power of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for improving the quality of life of its citizens, bring in accelerated social and economic development, ensure transparency in the Government decisions, accelerate the IT adoption amongst various user segments – all leading to an ideal e-society model through efficient, Service oriented, cost-effective, information networked, eco-conscious, and with year-on-year growth approach.

e-Governance is the buzzword of ICT that seeks to improve public service delivery.  It enables the citizen to avail various services at their doorsteps, which is really the need of time. There are only limited examples of successful e-Governance projects. However, the efforts are on and various state governments in India have initiated a variety of e-Governance projects.  The Government of Uttarakhand (GoU) has also planned several projects, many of which are also on the top priority agenda of the Government of India.

The department is striving to provide:

  • A platform to share/ provide information,
  • Backend computerization to respond/process the queries/ requests, and
  • A delivery mechanism.

 

To achieve the objectives, the ITDA, established there under shall carry out the following functions:
  1. To undertake all activities that may be necessary for the implementation of the project and in particular for the achievement of the objectives.
  2. To coordinate and monitor the activities for implementation of the project; 
  3. Develop and periodically review the e-Governance agenda of Uttarakhand; 
  4. Ensure that each project is in line with the e-Governance agenda;
  5. Monitor the progress of the various projects and ensure that the project is on mission critical mode; 
  6. Ensure coordination and dovetailing between various projects; 
  7. Provide expert inputs on critical matters and facilitate decisions on any critical issues; 
  8. Highlight progress/key issues to Steering Committee/GoUA and facilitate resolution of the same;
